Welcome back! I'm so excited to be sharing this experience with everyone. Thank you for being here.

Question 5:
On page 191, Evelyn describes feeling like she has someone to truly count on for the first time. Does this experience resonate with you? How do you feel about her assertion that it's possible to not know how much you need it until it's present?

On page 172, Evelyn and Celia have a disagreement about career versus personal life. Whose perspective most closely aligns with your own? Has your perspective changed throughout your lifetime?

Evelyn says: "Sometimes reality comes crashing down on you. Other times it simply waits, patiently, for you to run out of the energy it takes to deny it."
Have you had each of these experiences? Feel free to share as much or as little detail as you'd like.

Evelyn says: "When you realize you can tell someone your truth, when you can show yourself to them, when you stand in front of them bare and their response is "You're safe with me" - that's intimacy.
Do you agree? Have you known intimacy in that way?

In 1959, Evelyn says: "People don't find it very sympathetic or endearing, a woman who puts herself first. Nor do people respect a man who can't keep his wife in line." After all these years, how true do you think these statements are today?
