If your immediate thought was related to this:

I don't blame you. But that's not what this is about.
No, this is literally about the history of the world - and my realisation of how little I know of it.
I've done a fair amount of world travel at this point - an honor, privilege, and dream come true. One thing that has come out of this is an awareness of glaring gaps in my knowledge. I just returned from a trip to Norway (with a pit stop at Stonehenge) and while visiting a cultural museum in Oslo, I realized I had NO IDEA about the history of the Baltics. I don't know the history of the UK. I have no understanding of who the Gauls, the Celtics, the Welsh, the Druids, the Vikings.... are, or how they interacted. And these are my ancestors.
I know even less about other parts of the world. And I found myself wondering why. Why have I never had a desire or motivation to learn the history of our world? I have always had a passion for anthropology, psychology, and the human experience. Wouldn't the history of humankind be a related topic? I have always been drawn to the stories of people. Wouldn't history be a collection of stories about the human experience?
So I'm starting down the road. I'm going to educate myself on the stories that built our species. And I'll share it with you all as I go.
